If You Can’t Cope With GOD As ‘Father’ Read This Urgently
(Excerpt From Chapter Three of "How To Unlock God's BIG Plan For Your Life").
"A New Way To Look At The Question, Who Am I?"
The fact you were made in God's image is incredibly important, but there is more to explore that builds on that foundational understanding.
If you want to know who you are, you will need to come to terms with this... God is your (real) Father. (Yep, tough one that for some, especially abuse victims, but don't worry, help is on it's way if that describes you).
A lot more...
First though here is something that some will find hard to accept.
Because God made you - He knows WHO you are, and He wants you to know. That means (even if you don't like 'Dads'), you must figure out a way to get near to Him long enough to allow Him to explain exactly who you are, because no one else can.
Thankfully He made a very easy alternate way for you to do this, which can really help those who can't cope with the idea of God being their Father, maybe because of fear, abuse or rejection issues.
Here is what God did to help you.
He knew that Satan would distort the true meaning of fatherhood to such an extent that would cause many people to be wary of trusting God as their Father. Therefore God did something that totally floored Lucifer, and blind-sided your evil enemy completely.
He sent Jesus for you instead.
You see, for centuries people had been crying out to God saying things like...
"God, why do you stay up in heaven? Why are you invisible? Don't you know how hard it is for us down here on earth? Why don't you show us who YOU really are - why can't we SEE YOU? What are you really like? You don't know what it is like to be a human like us."
"How can you expect us to understand you, much less obey you when we have no real idea what you are like - can you please DO SOMETHING to help us out here, so we can get some kind of handle on this 'God' thing?"
So in response God did just what these folks asked Him to do. He came down from heaven to earth IN THE FLESH! But when God came as Jesus - He DID NOT come as a father!
Doing this was brilliant because God knew it would be far easier for you to relate to Jesus (almost as a favourite "big brother") instead. A never-fail big brother you could always depend on who would never leave you helpless, because He had power to save you in any circumstance.
Imagine a scene in the playground where you are being bullied.
Tears are rolling down your cheeks and you know you are done for. Completely surrounded, much bigger kids who have been spitting on you press in for the kill.
Suddenly from out of nowhere, your big brother steps in front of you and drives every one of your tormentors away.
Many of us have been there, and how amazing it is, when that big brother (or older friend) arrives and our enemies slink away because they know they are outgunned!
In a nutshell, Jesus is your hero.
And here's the secret...
God knew that you couldn't resist falling in love with the super hero He sent to rescue you.
The funny thing is that over time, the more you get to know Jesus, the more you will also get to know God as your father too.
Jesus dropped this next bombshell on His disciples (remember they were all Jews) one day when He said...
"If you really know me, you will know my Father as well... anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." (John 14 v 7 & 9 NIV).
So if you can't cope with God being your Father just now, don't worry about it for one second. Just get to know Jesus to begin with because He is God as well!
God promises to accept you, if you come to Him through Jesus. In fact He absolutely INSISTS on it.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.” (John 14 v 6-7 NIV).
God answers the cry of every human heart longing for someone who is PERFECT to come and defeat the evil we must face every day that bullies us in the (sometimes dangerous) playgrounds of our lives.
He does this by sending us Jesus... each day.
And wonderfully, whether we relate to God as our Father immediately or have to let Jesus show Him to us slowly over time, it does not matter because we can still discover who we are through Jesus to begin with.
So for those struggling with the idea of God being their Father, then Jesus is where to start.
Now for those who can relate to God as a Father (even a little) let's move on.

I really hope you are able to grasp the amazing thing God has done in sending us Jesus like this. In Him we see the TOTAL character of God our Father revealed in human form.
Study the Gospels again, who did Jesus ever refuse to see or turn away? Well, He's not going to turn you away either. In fact He's waiting to see you now!
