If You Feel Rubbish As If GOD Has Forgotten Or Won't Use You Read This...
The more I understand what GOD is really like, the more I wonder at His absolute passion for using people the world rejects.
I’m finally realising God is more than willing to use people NO MATTER what their circumstances or backgrounds.
Paul was so right when he said…
“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise… God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. “ (1 Corinthians 1 v 26-30 NKJV emphasis mine).
How glorious this truth is…“God has chosen the weak things of the world… the things [people] which are despised, God has chosen.”
So today, if you’re someone who feels weak, ever been despised, loathed or rejected, then take heart, God CHOOSES YOU TODAY. When I first became a Christian, my mother (who was a Sikh from the Punjab, Northern India), attacked my faith vehemently. It was a difficult time for me and put a great strain on our family, yet when I got baptised in water, I’m sure God was touching her because she shed tears as this scripture was given to me from Psalm 27.
It made me cry too…“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take care of me.” (Psalm 27 v 10 NKJV)
No matter who forsakes you…
- Your mum or dad
- Your husband
- Your wife
- Your friends
- Your brother or sister
- Even members of your Church
Jesus is never going to forsake you.
The exact opposite in fact.
Psalm 27 says He has promised to take care of you.
But God will also use you.
The secret is this…
He will use you no matter what your background, circumstances, class or even WHAT YOU FEEL LIKE. Just say “Yes, LORD, I am willing and desire you to use me for your glory.” Then be watchful for when He opens the door because He will. When they swing open, OBEY Him and go through.
And if you are one of those who feel so overwhelmed by life, circumstances, past failings, terrible sins or overwhelming difficulties in your path, then consider these guys God used below anyway and TAKE COURAGE. Today I am asking Jesus to light you with rocket fuel from the Holy Spirit so you catch fire and go on to do great exploits for Him.
Just think, God used…
- A Manic Depressive (Jeremiah, nicknamed “The Weeping Prophet”)
- A Murderer on the Run (Moses)
- An Adulterer and Murderer (David; the greatest king Israel ever had)
- A Blind Man (Samson; warning: study His life closely, you really DON’T want to be reduced to this to get God to answer your prayers, because of your disobedience to His laws though).
- A Prisoner (Joseph; whose life was a Midrash [picture] of the Messiah rescuing His people)
- A Man whose wife kept betraying him and committing adultery (Hosea)
- A Prostitute (Rahab)
- NOTE: Get this , these servants of God were used EVEN IF THEY FELT TERRIBLE.
And get this.
These servants of God were used EVEN WHEN THEY FELT TERRIBLE.
If you look carefully at every single one of these “holy” lives listed above, you will see they were used even when they FELT BAD.
Moses was utterly messed up when God spoke to him from the burning bush. He was literally a gibbering wreck. Yet, God used Him DESPITE how he felt. If you look at the others carefully you will see the same thing…
Rahab—must have been terrified; seriously, think about it.
Jeremiah—despairing, with a broken heart (maybe because God would not let him marry?)
David—just go through his Psalms, talk about mood swings!
Hosea—ouch, my heart breaks for that man, it really does… repeated betrayal = sheer agony, but God used Him.
Joseph—despised and rejected by the very closest people to him, his own family. How many times did he cry himself to sleep over the years, even after he finally “made it”?
So the moral of the story is…
If you actually want to get stuff done in the Kingdom of God, you will need to learn to do it even if you feel bad. For example you will need to learn to pray for others, witness, sing, preach, visit, have fellowship etc even when you DON’T FEEL like it.
Finally, imagine… Jesus can even use you if you are dead!
He did it with Lazarus, and what glory was given to God when He did! Do you know what this dead man had to do to get Jesus to use him? JUST BE HIS FRIEND. Lazarus made room in his home at Bethany for Jesus, so whenever He wanted to stay, maybe just to chill out, and recharge His batteries, He knew He would always find a welcome there.
Will He find a welcome at your home today?
(Does He love spending time with you?) If so He WILL use you, guaranteed.
Just the past few weekends at our local Church, we have been seeing God moving powerfully. Each week from out of the saddest, most difficult and broken backgrounds new teenagers have been getting saved with floods of tears. The world may have looked down on them, (despised or even feared them) but Jesus NEVER will. He died for them!
And here’s the funny thing; many of those labouring in the Lord to help these precious young folk come to Jesus, have themselves suffered deeply from rejection (even from within Church circles, in fact their wounds are still raw for some)… yet they are out working for God, saving souls and Jesus is using them in a profound way.
My prayer is God will use you too, no matter what you are feeling.
Yes, He will heal you too – but know this, to have Him with us is greater as we seek to OBEY Him in all He leads us to do. And here is an interesting observation I’ve noticed; those who HELP OTHERS get healed FASTER. In the way you give, it will be GIVEN back to you. Help heal others and see how quick God will be to heal you.
So if you feel weak, or anyone has ever despised you and it got you down, you qualify 100%. TODAY God has chosen YOU!
