Wars and rumours of wars; understanding Biblical eschatology so you escape what is coming like a trap.
With the world in the birth pangs of great turmoil, the Middle East in flames, Israel becoming a target of even greater hatred than it has ever faced before it is clear… the return of the LORD Jesus Christ is near. We approach the Apocalypse, Armageddon is near, the Rapture, nearer still.
Can you hear the hooves of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse yet?
Are you ready?
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.” 2 Peter 3:10-14 NKJV
Here are some articles on the End Times (including a VERY powerful prophetic dream for the Church)...
The Apostle Peter is very explicit about the Great Day of the LORD and the end of all things in his passage.
Therefore what should we do as we see the signs of the Apocalypse and Armageddon foretold in the Bible approaching us so rapidly?
Jesus tells us...
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36 NKJV
Jesus highlights, “that Day” is the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself in glory and He states all humans will “stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36) to give account on that day.
Jesus used the term “the Son of Man” to refer to Himself in the Gospels in preference to the term “the Son of GOD.”
However it was no less potent because by using it He was actually making reference to a Messianic, eschatological figure called the “Son of Man” revealed in the Old Testament Book of Daniel...
“I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him.
Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed. "
Daniel 7:13-14 NKJV
Therefore by using the title “Son of Man” Jesus was making claim before the Pharisees and Sanhedrin to be none other than the Jewish Messiah Himself.
By appropriating this title referencing Daniels scripture, Jesus was claiming that at the end of time He would also appear with His Father, the Ancient of Days. Importantly He was further claiming right to be given full rulership over all things, an eternal kingdom. “Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.” (Daniel 7:14).
The Jewish religious teachers knew this was to be an endless, everlasting kingdom that would not pass away or be destroyed, and would be ruled by their longed for Messiah. In the New Testament, a passage in the book of Revelation also reveals this same Messiah will one day rule all nations with a rod of iron. Revelation reveals He is called the “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Here it is...
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written no one knew except Himself.
He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16 NKJV
The Final Battle
Revelation also foretells the nations will be gathered together to fight against Jesus Christ and His army in what is known as the final battle (Armageddon). He will then defeat them and execute judgement against these wicked forces.
Christ is revealed utterly triumphant.
In addition, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus will cast the Devil, the Beast, and the False Prophet mentioned in Revelation chapters 17-20 into the lake of fire and brimstone to destroy them and execute the final victory over the armies of evil.
Revelation 19:17-21 puts it like this…
“Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”
And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.”
Revelation 19:17-21 NKJV
To complete the picture, for those forces from all over the earth which gather to oppose Christ and surround and attempt to attack Jerusalem, it does not end well for them and the one they sided with, the devil...
“They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:9-11 NKJV
Now as saints of the living GOD, who must also warn others of this fast approaching day, to bring this to conclusion, let me repeat the question I asked you at the start of this piece…
Are you ready yet?
I ask because the return of the Lord Jesus Christ will come suddenly like a thief in the night catching many unawares.
Let us diligently do what Jesus counsels now in order to prepare for that day so we will not be caught out and be given a portion with the wicked by GOD.The Day of Judgement is at hand, please hear and act on what Jesus says below from now on if you value your soul and the souls of those you love…
“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:36 NKJV
